About me !

kate

I grew up in London and started dancing at the age of 5 and attended twice weekly classes until the age of 11 when I was awarded a place at the Legat School of Classical Ballet. I studied there for seven years and then the Italia Conti Stage School where my love of teaching became reality.

I trained with Arlene Phillips and Lizzie Webb (remember this was the early eighties!) and was soon attending the Pineapple Studios in Covent Garden.

After three years at Italia Conti I was teaching ballet, tap and modern jazz dance classes at a local ballet school when I auditioned for a company headed by none other than Lionel Blair to teach something called “aerobics“!

I did my training and was soon out there jogging and jacking on the spot in my stripy leotard and legwarmers to the sounds of Michael Jackson and Donna Summer!

In those days we recorded our own cassette tapes and headset microphones were something worn by astronauts!

I remember doing aerobic displays for She magazine Health and Beauty Shows with Lionel Blair wearing a royal blue velour tracksuit - What fun we had!

I am a true dinosaur of dance and fitness and have seen the changes, the good the bad and the ugly!

25 years on and I am still doing what I love!
